Privacy Policy

Richard Howell Web Design · Last updated: 15th June 2026

This policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, and what I do with it, in plain terms. It applies to this website and to the service I provide. If anything here is unclear, just ask.

1.Who I am

Richard Howell Web Design is a sole trader based in Cambridge, run by Richard Howell. For the purposes of data protection law, I am the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can reach me at hello@richardhowellwebdesign.com.

2.The information I collect

3.Why I use it, and the legal basis

I do not use your information for anything you would not expect, and I never sell it.

4.Cookies and analytics

This website can use cookies, including Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. These only run if you accept them through the cookie banner. You can find the full detail, and change your choice at any time, in my Cookie Policy.

5.Who I share it with

I keep your information to myself as far as possible. The only others who may handle it are the trusted services I use to run the business, such as my website hosting, my email and form delivery, and Google Analytics. They process it only on my instructions and only to provide their service. I never sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. I may disclose information if the law requires it.

6.How long I keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept only as long as needed, then deleted. Client records are kept while you are a client and for a period afterwards where I am required to, for example payment records for tax purposes, which are typically kept for six years. Analytics data is kept in line with the settings on the analytics service.

7.Where your information is stored

Some of the services I use, such as Google, may store or process information outside the UK. Where that happens, they are required to protect it to standards recognised under UK data protection law.

8.Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it is wrong, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict or stop using it, object to how I use it, and, where it applies, ask for it in a portable format. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of these, just email me at hello@richardhowellwebdesign.com.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9.Keeping it secure

I take reasonable steps to keep your information safe and to work only with reputable providers who do the same. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, but I treat your information with care.

10.Other websites

This site may link to other websites. I am not responsible for their content or how they handle your information, so do check their own privacy policies.

11.Children

This website and service are aimed at businesses, not children, and I do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.

12.Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
